I had this vision sometime in 1996 – I made a sketch of it and thought it would be a large canvas. I don’t have an idea for what the work actually means – there is no meaning that was “delivered” with it.

What was presented to me was a woman, with either regret or ambition, falling from above. She didn’t feel like she was in danger – mores0 – she felt liberated to me. Like, her “lack of commitment” enabled her to achieve something extraordinary. She wasn’t falling in fear – but falling with purpose (as you do when you skydive.)

And while the landscape seemed terrifying, it seemed familiar to her – like she was home …
