About

Hello, I’m John Zavocki

I have been merging Art and Technology since the late 80s, my early days of college.

Along the way, I have been fortunate to make paintings in Tuscany, develop interactive applications for telecom behemoths, teach web design to college students, construct immersive experiences for the fragrance industry, design eCommerce funnels for Nobel Laureates, and build websites for rock stars.

I have a MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art; I taught myself front-end development, server-side engineering, and Apple programming.

Over a decade ago, I moved into User Experience because “helping people” was the reason I got into art in the first place.*

During the day, I design software for researchers and clinicians who work to cure cancer. At night I’m building app, waiting for either Zackary or Wolfgang, our twin boys, to wake up <yawn>.

Thanks for taking the time to learn about me; drop me a line so I can learn about you!

* FYI you can’t really “help” people by making art 🙁 When you go inot the arts you have two options 1) make investment properties for rich people or 2) work on your mental health. Art therapy is a n extension of the latter.
